Adding Image/Icon to Contact/Account Default Forum

From official Microsoft website i have read that only one Image field is allowed in an Entity form, and some of the entities by default have Image Filed in there form like contact, account etc. I am required to insert a small icon image in front of Address filed of Contact form, so that an action could be taken when that icon is clicked.

I need to know that is there anyway to achieve this task and if this is a supported feature or not? kindly provide some guidance.

Regards

    Hi Absaar,

Each entity can only have one entity image uploaded.

There is no supported way for now to change the entity image of system entities.

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/Change-custom-entity-icons.aspx

Let me know if this helps.

    Hi Absaar,

The address field on the contact form is a composite field....what this means its a combination of several other fields in CRM into one field.

refer to the screen shot below:

the address ifield is a combination of the street 1,street 2 etc fields..

my understanding of field icons is that it works for lookup fields where the entity image icon is displayed.

This is quite different from the address field...The address field is not a lookup field in that sense but a composite field.

I think you are going down a bit of a blind alley here. Entity images are not intended to store an image to use on the entity form, but to store an image per record to show a specific image (for example a person's headshot photo). Think avatars for people, company logos for Accounts, product photos, etc.

For your scenario it sounds like you need two web resources. One to store the image file, and another to store a simple web page which will display the image (referencing the URL of the first resource) and contain the code you need for the action (actually, this could potentially be in another web resource to hold the javaScript). The second one is what you will embed on the Account form so it displays a button with an image to take an action.

In terms of location on the form, the smallest space you can use will be the same as a field since everything has to conform to the grid based layout - you can't place the button in an arbitrary position such as to the left of a field.

What could be the cause why a logo display on preview mode from the form customization and did not display on the form of the entity.

Quick response will be highly appreciated

    Thank you
