Planning Worksheet -- Having to Use an Item Number Range

Hi:

If you want the Planning Worksheet to generate suggestions not just for a finished good but also for its subassemblies and those subassemblies' component part numbers, you have to enter all of those items as an Item Number range in the "Calculate Plan" screen.

If you enter only the finished good in the Item Number "range", only one suggestion generates and that one suggestion is only for that one finished good.

Is there not a way of capturing all of the items without having to specify all of the Item Numbers in the range?

Thanks!

Planning Worksheet -- Having to Use an Item Number Range
    Hi John,

I think best way tackle this issue is have 2 batch one for Finished and one sub assembly and defaulted to item range. I think some of the fields take default to last updated value.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

Planning Worksheet -- Having to Use an Item Number Range
    .Hello

In Business Central, to generate planning suggestions for a finished good and its subassemblies, you usually need to enter all items as an Item Number range in the "Calculate Plan" screen. However, you can streamline this by setting up a reorder cycle, defining planning parameters for items or groups (including SKUs for item, variant, and location combinations), and ensuring correct low-level codes in the Bill of Materials (BOM). These methods help include all relevant items without manually specifying each item number.

Planning Worksheet -- Having to Use an Item Number Range
    Hello John,

In Business Central, the Planning Worksheet suggests orders based on the item numbers specified in the Calculate Plan screen. If you only enter the finished good, it will generate a suggestion for that item alone. To include subassemblies and components without manually specifying each item, ensure that dependent demand is triggered. This typically happens when items have a Production BOM and proper replenishment settings (like Make-to-Order or Make-to-Stock). Also, check Reordering Policies and Planning Parameters to ensure the system considers all required items automatically.
