Including missing fields in API's

There are many fields missing from the documented API's for BC. Even complete object types such as "Contact"

Then there are side-effects not clearly described, like the automatic creation of a Contact when a Customer is loaded.

Take 'Item' for instance. I want to set the "Gen Product Posting Group". It isn't part of the API but I know it exists.

So I don't want to add a new field to an existing object
I don't want to customise by creating exstensions for new objects

I just want to set existing values into existing objects via the API.

Also I would like a complete, detailed data dictionary of the fields present and their relationships. It aint in the doc.

This relates to the online/cloud version of BC

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

All of the API's are documented with their available fields here:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-nav/api-reference/v1.0/

If the default API does not have a field that you need then you can either create a custom API, or you can use Web Services.

    Web Services
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/webservices/web-services

    API Page type
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-api-pagetype

There is no document that I'm aware of that lists all Fields and their table relations within Business Central.

Not sure if it is similar problem.  Been trying to read/set Sales Order's "Assigned User Id" field.  I use REST API v 2.0.  I don't see the field in the JSON returned in POSTMAN.  Am I missing something or do I have to use OData v 4.0 to read/write the field?  Any link to further readings would be appreciated.
