Copying Shortcuts from one User Class folder to another User Class folder

In GP 2010, when I copy shortcuts from one User Class folder to another User Class folder and try to keep the same shortcut name, it gives me following message. "A shortcut with the name you specified already exists. Please rename the shortcut". I know it use to be possible in older versions of GP. Why is it not allowing me to have same shortcut name in different User Class folder in GP 2010. Is there any fix? Please advise. Thank!

    Hi Max,

Are you copy the folder in GP or using a tool? Also are you actually copying the Userclass folder or the shortcuts folder? Can you post a screenshot of what you are actually doing and the errors you are receiving?

Jonathan, I am not using any tools. I login as 'sa', I see all the User Class folders in the Navigation Pane. Then I copy a shortcut form one User Class folder to another User Class Folder and try to give it same shortcut name. I will include screenshot of the error. Thanks for your response.

    HI Max,

I am still confused as to why you are copying these folders? User Classes are not the spot you want to put shortcuts in, there is a shortcuts folder for that.

Thanks for checking. Some shortcuts are used by all users in the User Class. I want to put in User Class folder so that I don't need to add the shortcuts one by one for each user.

    Hi Max,

Thanks for that explanation. I see what you are trying to do now. The reason you are receiving that error is because that folder actually does exist. The point of Users Classes in GP 10 and 2010 is that you can assign users to a user class and then they will have all those shortcuts automatically. There is no need to create the folder as the shortcuts should already be there.
