When copying data from an existing user to a new user it gives the new user full access to Canadian Payroll.
Tested all user access on my machine. Original user has no access to payroll ...but when I copy users rights to ANY new user ...they have full access to the Payroll cards?
This has nothing to do with what machine I am on or what is installed.
Resolution was to create new role.
Tami
Any update on the resolution for this one?
Are you sure the security box is checked if you go to Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | Company | Company?
Hi Tami
CDN payroll, I bet you it is that the user you are copying has access to payroll as well via security but that it is not installed on their machine so they don't know. It would make sense that your VAR gave you an installed package that had payroll included. Really you need to get two. One for regular users and one for payroll users.
The other posters suggested checking security. See if the original user has something in set up that looks like payroll access
I don't have CDN payroll so my screen shot is going to show the GP out of box US payroll, but it will give you an idea of what you are looking for.
Hi there Ian...GP 2010 sql 2008R2, Canadian Payroll installed..
We have an install package created for us by our VAR...
And it happens on my machine when testing new users access.
I have a hunch it is related to the last tax update as I have not created a user since...til now.
Also we have manufacturing installed...which by the way gives users access to employee cards, DOB, SIN....MS doesnt think thats an issue and had me use field security to "hide"
Tami
All I want to know is why when I copy security to a new user ...it gives full access to payroll?
hi Tami
you don't tell us which country you are in, or what GP environment you have
In Canada payroll is an additional module so has to be loaded. If you run a client server environment it is therefore possible that one user has a module installed and another does not.
Would it be therefore possible that your original user does have access to payroll but cannot get to it because the payroll module is not loaded onto their GP?
ian
Check your new created user against existing user to see which "security roles" are given to those new ones, to do so, check the user security script on the link below;
User Security Role Enhancement–Intersect
Your feedback is highly appreciated,
I have deleted user and recreated....all new users have full access to payroll
Have done that...and no that is not the case.
Has exact same rights as copied user...only full access to payroll??
