Management Reporter Error

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 245

Good Morning,

Since my Finance team has closed the year for all our Dynamics GP companies, we are getting the following error in Management Reporter:

Two or more fiscal years are overlapping. Modify the calendar in the source system.

But I have run queries against all the companies for the financial years and companies and cannot find where there is an overlap.

Has anyone run into this before?

We are trying to generate finalized Financial Reports from Management Reporter and are unable to do so.

Thanks in advance,

Lori

My guess is you are using MR Data Mart and need to rebuild the Data Mart.

[In later releases, the benefits of Data Mart have just about completely gone away.  Whenever possible, we have moved clients back to Legacy during GP upgrades to avoid having to rebuild Data Mart  It was pretty common to have to rebuild Data Mart after clients tried to create their new fiscal year, realized they had changed a prior year instead of create a new one, and then went back and fixed up the years.  MR didn't sync all of those changes.]

Typically this message happens because there are actually years that overlap in the SY40100 and/or SY40101 tables.  You could also get this if there is a missing period.  MR is expecting sequential dates, so if you have a gap in periods or created a short year and called it 2123, you can get errors like this.  But if you've checked those tables and don't see anything that overlaps, then mostly likely the data mart is not synced with the GP tables.

If you really wanted to check the data mart, you could query the Datamart.FiscalCalendarView, Datamart.FiscalYear, and Datamart.Period tables.  Those tables have an OrganizationId column that ties back to the Datamart.Organization table.  That table will have the company name and ID number.

If you're using the legacy provider and get this error, then there is an overlap or missing period in GP.  The legacy provider reads directly from the GP tables, so this error would indicate an overlap in the SY40100 and/or SY40101 tables.
