Hi
I am trying to Create database export to a bacpac file from Business Central Admin Center, but I get a permission error.
I am global admin in Azure and in Business Central I have both the User Permission Set SUPER and D365 BACKUP/RESTORE - so what else could be missing?
Best regards
Thomas Madsen Nielsen
Are you "Admin" in BC as well? I mean can you see "D365 INTERNAL ADMIN" permission as well? Can you assign that to your user? Try to see if you can add that permission as well.
Also, see this article
docs.microsoft.com/.../tenant-administration
Hi TMNielsen ,
Please refer the below link

Hi Mahgah
Thanks for your suggestion.
Yes I also have "D365 INTERNAL ADMIN" as a User Group Membership and that User Group contains 2 permission sets "D365 READ" and "SECURITY".
But this should not be required according to Microsoft documentation docs.microsoft.com/.../tenant-admin-center-database-export
The documentation only mention "D365 BACKUP/RESTORE"
King regards
Thomas
Thanks Nitin,
I am already following the blog from ZHU, but then I get this error and I don't think ZHU is writing anything about permissions?
Kind regards
Hi Thomas
According to the link you have shared Internal Admin is required. "Permission to export databases is limited to specific types of users: internal and delegated administrators."
Also, I have realized that those permissions do not mean you are internal admin. You should be a global admin for all O365 in order to consider as an internal admin (Internal administrators are the system administrators, IT professionals, or superusers of the customer's company, who are assigned the Global admin role in the Microsoft 365 admin center.) see below.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/tenant-administration#administration-as-an-internal-administrator
Are you Global Admin for O365? See below
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/add-users/about-admin-roles?view=o365-worldwide
I know MS guideline is not super clear here. But looks like:
1) You need to be Global Admin for O365
2) Then that Global Admin gives you Internal Admin right to BC.
3) Then you need both permission (backup and internal admin) to export database.
Keep in mind if you changed your user in O365 Admin to Global Admin then make sure to update your user in BC as well (Users -> Process -> Update user xxx)
Same error here.... looks like a bug
Same permission error here. Tried more than one tenant. Global admin in Azure and D365 BACKUP/RESTORE in BC (also SUPER)
Hi, I don't think there is anything wrong with your permissions, maybe it's a bug.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/tenant-admin-center-database-export#users-who-can-export-databases
We did investigate, our last working export was 27th June, from this date, we didn't upgrade or change any permission.
We tried with a account with SUPER priviledge. Same issue.
I really think this is coming from an upgrade of admin center from Microsoft side. We tried on both production instance, one in France, the other in the US.
Hi, Marco Mels sorry to bother you again, what do you think about this issue?
This issue has also been raised in Yammer.
