Conditional Field Dependency in D365 F&O – Looking for an If-Then Logic Example

Hello everyone,

We would like to develop a feature in Dynamics 365 F&O where selecting a value in one field influences the available values in another field (If-Then logic). Is there a standard function or an example in D365 F&O that I can refer to?

Specifically, selecting a certain value in Field A should restrict the values in Field B. Does anyone know of a standard solution that I can use as a reference for our customization?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same question (0)

    Dear @MelanieF,

In order to reach as much community members as possible, it is highly recommended to describe your issue\request in English.
I ve modified your question by adding a translation via Copilot, without touching your original text. A translation of the title exceeds 100 characters, therefore I would recommend to change it yourself as I didnt want to touch your original title.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hello,

Could you explain a little bit more what the business scenario is? Maybe others have a similar case with an implemented solution.

But if you want to have a straight answer, there is no setup for this, but you can use diverse standard functionalities to pick up the code in order to create your customization.

This is what comes to my mind:

    1. Project categories
    2. If you use a group of Transaction type "Expense", then you have 3 enums to choose from under (3).

If you use a group of transaction type "Hour" (1), then the Resource under (2) is filled as Mandatory.
You can use a logic that fills the field (2) depending on the category group.

OR, in this example you have under (1) and (2) the same list, however, if you select under (1) a type of "Expense", the list under (2) is prefiltered with all values of type "Expense" - you need to take care that the user cant remove the filtered list under (2)

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi,

Can you give us more details? What is the data type for your fields?
Also do want only to set field b based on field a selection. I mean when you open the form what should field b has?

    Thanks,
    Waed Ayyad
