Custom API - Is there no way to set secure/unsecure configuration?

When I register a Custom API in PowerApps/Dataverse and I set my plugin type, a step is automatically set which you can view in the plugins registration tool. However, this step is read only, so I can not update it with the secure or unsecure configuration.

I have not found a solution for this.

Is there no way to pass configuration to a Custom API?

Regards.

    Hello Marius,

The concept of the Custom API doesn't require the creation of the steps themselves.

I would recommend using some alternate configuration approach, for example, Environment Variables that can be queried using API.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for your reply.

I have considered env. variables, however, they are not secure as the user has permissions to read them through the web api. The users can not read unsecure/secure config.

So if my configuration is to contain api keys, passwords and the like, then I need to find another approach.

    Thank you.

    Regards.

    Marius,

Then, you can create a custom "settings" entity, store your secrets over there and limit the privileges of users to read the data from that entity.
