using display method

hello everyone, 

I'm trying to combining two grids using dispaly method .

in this tutorial : https://dynamicsaxinsight.wordpress.com/2014/02/20/display-methods/

the issue is I want to select all the fields not just couple of them, so how can I do it?

    I think you have to change the way,It's a bad idea use too much display methods on grids.

    Hi Sarah,

    Have you tried creating a view that combined both the tables based on a common clause and then using it as a datasource for your grid?

    This way you will not have to write a display method for each and every field.

    Like JBB mentioned, it is not a great idea to use too many display methods on a grid.

    I think she was talking about real view. In AOT under data dictionary node there is "views" node. You can create new view there joining several tables. Then you can use this view as data source on the form.

    Another option is to add table\tables that have all fields you require on the form as new data sources and then add fields from these data sources on design.

    If the grid tables having table level relationship, you could add those tables as form datasource, mention the joindatasource property and add the form datasource(s) fields to grids. It will work.

    If the grid tables don't have table level relationship, you can create AOT query and add this query as datasource in forms.
