SSRS Reports in D365 Online

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are in process of upgrading  from On-premise to D 365 online and have few complex SQL Reports/Queries which cannot be converted to FetchXML.

I have gone through few blogs and got to know about replication of CRM online data to Azure database and SQL reports can use Azure DB as a data source which can then be deployed to CRM online reports area and thus making complex reports even  possible in D 365 Online.

I am working on a POC on this approach and have got an error while creating a SQL report as shown below

Could you please help me on the data source connection or how the complex SQL report will work in D365 online.

Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,

You can do using data exchange service. Kind review this link -

    Hello,

To be honest I have never done that before but it sounds possible to implement something similar to FilteredView approach that is used in on-prem reporting.

    Hi Andrew

Thanks for the suggestion. It worked well.

How does Security work here. As CRM reports run on FilteredViews, Can we replicate the FilteredViews as well? Will this be the same as On-Premise execution?

    Regards

    Sneha

    Hello,

If you want your report to work with external you will have to publish it somewhere outside of CRM and create a report using "Report type" as "Link to webpage" option.

    Good luck.
