While applying prepayment , fixed exchange rate is ignored

Hi Community, I have cam across a problem where I did a prepayment and invoice with a fixed exchanges rate which is other from company exchange rate.

When I am applying the prepayment to Invoice the financial ledger entry is ignoring my exchange rate and picking up company exchange rate. Not sure if this behaviour is by design and what is the possible solution for it.

Please suggest

Hi Kumar - I am not sure what transactions were carried out. Could you please give details on what transactions you did and in what order.

    Hi Dwij,

    I did following steps

    1. Create PO

    2. Define 100 PC prepayment for it.

    3. While posting prepayment , I changed my currency rate from 1.05 to 1.20

    4. Posted Prepayment

    5. Posted payment for Prepayment (Used cross rate of 1.20 to avoid currency variation)

    6. Applied prepayment to Purchase invoice

    7. Posted it

    8. I see all my transactions have 1.20 as exchange rate but my Ledger Entry (Vendor > Transaction > Voucher) is showing amounts with 1.05 exchange rate where as desirable will be 1.20

hope this explains what I am trying to achieve

Hi Kumar - An interesting  scenario. It sure looks like by design. I don't think just applying the prepayment to the PO Invoice will take the fixed exchange rate used for the prepayment. In the PO invoice you would need to override it manually again in my opinion.

    Hi Dwij,

I did override it Manually, still the prepayment settlement transaction takes default and not the override rate.

Figured out that only way is to change exchange rate at the last moment of transaction , not happy with the solution and would like to see better solution coming through.
