I want to be able to record an electronic payment of a voucher in SL. I know I need to do this via Manual Check/Payment Entry (03.030.00) the problem I have is that I don't want to use a check number for this entry, I would like to use the ACH number given by the bank. Any suggestions?

You can set up another subaccount in the gl and then for these types of transactions and tie it to the same bank account. This allows you to use a different set of "check numbers" which are really ACH Numbers given by the bank.
Also, you should consider the Sandler Kahne electronic banking modules at http://www.sksoft.com. They allow you to avoid having to do the manual check at all, you can do your ACH's in a separate batch.
