Can someone please walk me through setting up basic financial reports?

Hi all,

I am relatively new to GP 10.00 (any GP for that matter). However I have used other accounting systems before and I am able to print basic financial statements without having to get a Phd at it. Would someone be so kind enough as to itemize each step that is required to get my basic financial statements. I am using GP 10.00 Service pack 4. I have only 2009 data entered into the system. I tried but the end result is that I have no data and I am getting the error message "The user date falls within a fiscal year that hasn't been set up'. I am absolutely sure I have data (one years worth in the system) and I have setup the fiscal year 2009 (yes 2009). Therefore can someone please provide me a Step 1  - Go here do this, Step 2 -Go here do this, etc., etc. procedure for getting my BASIC FINANCIAL Reports? Thanks much.

    Jose,

    Go Help>Printable Manuals>Reporting>Advanced Financial Analysis.  This document will walk you through setting up your financials.

     Jose, I work exclusively with GP and I have never used those GP Financial Statements, nor have I seen anyone use them.  That's not to say they aren't used.  FRx is a great tool for your financial statements.  You should have it installed if you don't already.

    However, it is a tall task to ask someone to walk you through step-by-step.  There are manuals that come with all of these products and they can be hundreds of pages.  Really, your choices are to call your partner who has experience with this, or bear down and read through the manual.  FRx has some pretty good manuals and also a sample company with some examples.  Once you get the hang of it, you will be able to make all sorts of financial reports.

    Have you gone through setup of the reports?  The Advanced Financial Reports do not exist out-of-the-box - you have to set them up.  If you've set the reports up and you're still getting this error, I would look at your date ranges in the report column definitions to make sure you have the correct period and year set.

    I second what K Day suggested.  Get FRx setup.  It is so much more robust than the clunky AFA reports.

    Jose,

    I still remember when I started my career in Dynamics GP before getting knwoledge in FRX I used Advance Financial Reporting tools for financial reports for one of our customer and later we re-design all Reports to FRX.

    Advance Financial Report is easy to it work with "Financial Category" , Jose why don't you see Sample Report in TWO Company ?

    goto-->Report-->Financial-->Advance Financial ---->Select any sample Report and click and Layout. You will get better idea about Financial report.

    But again I like to you to suggest go for FRX it will take little time to learn but once you learn you can really do good financial reporting in FRX.
