Not able to run Dynamics GP

Posted on by 290

I seem to be in a endless loop, when i try to loggin into Dynamics GP, it asks me to run GPUtils first, i am using the DYNSA account and start the utils. the GPUtils now wants to update some forms and dictionaries, but when i follow the instructions, it just says there is nothing to update and it allows me to start Dynamics GP again. When i try to start the GP it asks me to run Utils again. i tried to create 2 new users 1 with sql authentification and 1 with windows authentification i cant log into the system with any of them, the only account that can loggin into the system is the DYNSA account i used to be able to loggin with the sa account with blank passwort wich doesnt work anymore either. does anyone know what the problem here could be

RE: Not able to run Dynamics GP

    Hi Christoph,

If you rename your forms and reports dictionaries can you log in?  Often when I run into this error, it's because the dynamics.dic on one workstation is not the same as another. If you have a workstation that does not throw this error I would copy that workstation to the ones that are fighting with you. If everything is fine when you rename the forms and reports dictionaries, then you need to create package files of your modifications and import them. If you only have modified reports i would use the import functionality in Report Writer to import the modified reports into a fresh dictionary.\

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

First make sure you are logged into the workstation as someone with Admin rights. This will allow all local updates to occur. Then log into GP as 'sa'. Then log out of GP and the workstation and log in as non-admin user. This user will need full control of the Microsoft Dynamics folder and subfolders.
