How to: FRx preview when no data in tables yet

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello, is there a way to preview an FRx report when the db has no data yet?  It's a new company db, trying to get reports setup, no data in tables yet.  When I run the FRx report it comes back with no data.  Of course, since there is no data.  Is there a way to preview a report prior to having data in the tables?  Thanks.

One other option for a quick fix - enter a GL transaction for one of the accounts on the report and Save it (do not Post).  Change the report to include unposted transactions (under Provisional on the Catalog select  Posted + Unposted).  Now you should be able to print the report.  When done, delete the unposted GL transaction.

Thanks Victoria, I checked the boxes but unfortunately I still get the dialog box telling me “this report yielded no data” and the report does not display. Guess I just have to wait until there is data in the tables.

    Jimmy,

On the Report Options tab of the Catalog select 'Display rows with no amounts' and 'Display reports with no active rows'.  On the Row Format, make sure you are not using X0 in the Print Ctrl column anywhere.  That should do it.
