Hello All,

Please could anyone advise if and how we can have Item Journal Approval Workflow?

Standard Business Central doesn't have Item Journals.

We are looking to create workflows for the following:

Item Journal(Positive and Negative adjustments) approval criteria:

  1. Total adjustment cost less than or equal to $500, no approval required
  2. Total adjustment cost between $500 to $5000, to be approved by User A
  3. Total adjustment cost above $5000, to be approved by User B

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

thank you

Bill

    Bill,

Out of the Box their is no Item Journal Workflow template. You could create one but you might consider Power Automate as an easier solution. Here is a link to a recording on how easy it is to use Power Automate.

    Thanks,

Hi Bill - Since you're unable to find workflow templates in standard BC, you are right as it is not existing

There are 2 ways you can follow:

    1. Go the power automate way (which will incur additional licensing costs if you don't own one already)

    2. You can contact your local partner and ask them to customize a item journal workflow for you. There are plenty of blogs out there on customizing this, all one needs is an experienced AL/Business Central developer

Either way you go will cost you $$ & time

    Hi, just adding some info.

Throughout 2023 release wave 1, Microsoft is adding more approval workflow templates based on Power Automate. (Public preview is Apr 2023)
