Importing Views into new Environment

Hi there,

I am looking to import some views for a particular entity from one Dynamics instance (A) to another (B) (both identical in terms of schema objects).

In environment A, I have created a new unmanaged solution to place the new views within. To add the views to this solution, I had to add the entity the the views depend on in order to create the views.

My question is, when I export this solution from instance A for import to instance B, will exporting the 'required components' along with the solution in turn override the existing components in instance B when I import the solution there?

Or, is there a more efficient way to export a view from one instance to another?

Any help is appreciated!

Ryan

    Hi

If you know that the required components' schema is same as the source then you do not need to include, while exporting. Even if you include them, then there is no effect for those dependent components. But, if the schema is different then it would be updated.

If you are having a solution already, and you want to add only few views in that solution. You can use Clone a Patch. This would allow you to export only these view (instead of creating a new solution yourself) and later on you can merge both the Patch Solution and the main solution. So, you can carry on working on this solution further as a single solution.
