McAfee causing CRM to hang

(0) ShareShare

I am having issues with the CRM addin with Outlook 32 bit. When the McAfee on access protection service is running and I access a record in CRM it causes Outlook to either hang going into CRM or once in there and I try to open a record it hangs. If the service is disabled it works fine. I have all the URL's related to CRM in the trusted sites in IE. Running McAfee version 8.8.0 Enterprise. Also have those sites excluded in McAfee script scan URL exclusion list.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes we did follow the instructions in those posts but script scanning is still turned on.

You may need to contact McAfee support to see what they are scanning that is causing Outlook to crash. You will want to make sure it is not scanning the Outlook OST file, as that is not supported.

    Aaron,

McAfee is not scanning the OST file and I have worked with McAfee, Microsoft tech support to try and resolve this issue to no satisfaction.

Are others having this issue? I have done everything and still unless script scanning is disabled along with the McAfee e-mail scan Outlook sometimes hangs, CRM displays "Waiting to load a page from the CRM server" or the ribbon in CRM is blank with the same error. Its a tossup as to weather it will work the way it should.

Thank you for the reply. This is still something that needs to be addressed by McAfee. If you have a support case open, I would recommend that you continue working with them to troubleshoot this issue. Unfortunately, Microsoft support does not have access to the McAfee code to debug this issue, which is why they must be involved.

Not sure if this is what you were/are experiencing...

Symptom: Users could create new activity records, but after tracking an e-mail, subsequent attempts to create a new activity record (ie. Phone Call) would fail; the pop-up window would appear, the header would render, but the main frame content would not render. Upon closing the defunct window, errors would issue relative to scripting.

In our case, we have Win 7 Pro x64 users running Outlook 2010 32-bit and CRM for Outlook 2015.

Resolution: We had to remove the block in McAfee for "Protect Internet Explorer favorites and settings" (under Access Protection Properties).

Similarly, we ran logs and excluded all services and URLs (in McAfee) that we could find to allow for unfettered communcations. Nothing resolved the issue until this block was removed.

There is the option to configure McAfee to not scan any internal URLs communications, or to exclude specific URLs. In particular, script scanning causes major issues. McAfee should be able to provide you with the details, this has been an issue raised way back in CRM 2011 and they have the solution.
