Import general ledger created by third party system into AX

I have never seen AX before so if this question has been answered over and over or is obvious then I apologise.

Basically our client is the AX user, they claim their AX system cannot take a general ledger extract from a third party system and import it into AX.

Our system creates a daily general ledger extract containing data for:

Transaction date, account number (as defined in AX), amount, Debit/credit flag, Description, etc

The file can be fixed width or CSV and can contain hundred/thousands of entries.

With other accounting systems that I am familiar with (Great Plains and Sun Accounts) the general ledger extract our system produces is simply imported into the corporate accounting system.

The purpose of me asking this questions is to take the information I find back to our client for them to investigate further.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe in AX2009 there are many ways to import any kind of data

    1) By Import/Export feature using definition groups

    2) write x++ code to import data

so you need to ask your customer, what is not working exactly? how they are doing it? are they facing any error

if they are saying, it's not possible to import; They need training or assistance

Thanks Sohaib. Maybe it is the way they have set up AX. They are happy to talk about accounts payable and accounts receivable modules, and they had AX consultants onsite when I was asking these questions, but they still could not provide any answers. We have shown them the data that is generated by our system and explained what each column represents. I would have thought it would have been a simple mapping set up and import. But the say their general ledger is created from the accounts payable and accounts receivable.
