Dynamics 365 App for Outlook

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Dear all,

I have seen that a new app for outlook is release with december update of crm online, which seems to be better integrated to outlook that classical outlook plug in.

But the requirement I have notice is that all mail box willing to use it need to be set for incoming server side sycn.

Based on that what will happen to incoming email of the mail box then, we will have all incoming email track in CRM which is not necessarily what we need because of not important email ?

So how does it works exactly when setting mail box as it is define because we will have email comin in outlook and then also in CRM ?

thanks for explanation

regards

Go to your personal options, email tab, and change the setting to be "in response to CRM emails".  That should cut down what is inappropriately tracked into CRM.

I think you still have the previous version. I'm not sure if the new version is already up and running. I don't have it myself either.

Yes you made the right setting to configure this.

    With regard to this quote:

If this is the case even undesired email from my mail box will be recorded in my CRM , which is something I do not want .

Please read the second point I made in the first comment. Using server side sync does not mean that every email you get in your inbox will be in CRM, unless you configure folder tracking for your main inbox.

I read this but could not find the proper place where I need to correct based on the error mentionned below

    43711.Capture.PNG

If I change my mail box setting in CRM mail box setting as screen below, all incoming email will come into my CRM as well as my outlook mail box correct ?

If this is the case even undesired email from my mail box will be recorded in my CRM , which is something I do not want .

Is this the proper place to change this setting based on error above ?

    Here's the documentation: www.microsoft.com/.../dynamics-365-app-for-outlook-user-s-guide.aspx

You need to make sure you have te privilages, and make sure your account is setup for server side sync.

Server side sync is not equal to all email being synced. With server side sync you have two options to get your mail into CRM.

    1. Using the new addin for Outlook, which requires a manual action

    2. Using the folder tracking options. There you have the possibility to track a maximum of 25 (sub)folders of your inbox. Only when you track your main folder, all emails to your inbox will be tracked in CRM.
