Business portal on GP2013 R2 and GP2015

Hi,

We are currently using GP2013 SP2 and Business portal for dynamics GP 2013 version 6.0.1053.2.   I planned to upgrade GP 2015.   We have below license for 40 users as mentioned below. 

Product Edition: Perpetual

Full User

40

Limited User

0

As per Microsoft below announcement - The replacement functionality will be available to anyone using one of the concurrent Client Access Licenses (CALs) to access GP:  What does it mean, only 40 uses can use the replacement functionality.  We have more than 300 outsource engineers, they are using businesses portal for checking their payslip, vacation request,  leave balance etc.  How they can login and view their details.

Is there any separate license for GP 2013 R2 , will the current business portal will work on GP2013 R2

Kindly help me and provide solution.

Business Portal
Microsoft has decided to discontinue the development of Business Portal and focus instead on including most of the same functionality directly into the core code base of Dynamics GP 2015.  The replacement functionality will be available to anyone using one of the concurrent Client Access Licenses (CALs) to access GP:

    I would check CustomerSource, go to Products & Services Summary > Registered Modules.

    On that page for my company it lists the items we're registered for and lists Full Users, Limited Users and Self Serve Users plus what other pieces you have (starter pack, etc.)

    Thanks for your support.  Please let me know how can I find out number of Self Serve users in my license. As I mentioned I can find

    Full User 40

    Limited User 0

    Please help me.

    Hi Noushad,

    Business Portal is discontinued thus not available for GP 2015. Once you upgrade, you need to consider other ways to access the same functionality that you used to use in Business Portal in GP 2013 R2 as GP 2015 will not work with Business Portal 2013.

    Check with your partner: your licenses for Business Portal typically transition to the equivalent type of user in GP (self serve user I believe). The Time Entry functionality in GP 2015 may or may not give you all of the same functionality that you had in Business Portal but the intention of the Self Serve user is that a user can log into GP for things specific to them, like their paystub.

    Hi P NOUSHAD,

    First of all GP 2013 R2 do support business portal and you can upgrade and it will work just fine.

    Second the users are different when using the replacement functionality from the business portal users,

    you have 3 types of user licenses in Dynamics GP: Full, Limited, and Self-Serve.

    These licenses are either Concurrent or Named which is dependent on both the license type and the deployment model.
