Delete Sample Data

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am setting up Dynamics 365, and I cannot delete the accounts, contacts, products and anything else that came in the sample data.  I have "removed the sample data", but there is still information that won't delete.  It says the product is associated with a record.  Please let me know how I can get all the data out so I can start fresh.

I'm having the same issues,  The page crm.dynamics.com/tools/importwizard/sampledata.aspx is blank.  I don't see an easy way to clear out the sample data and I'm ready to start using the tool.  After trying there is still Accounts and Contacts?  What give Microsoft this is very frustrating.

I have not associated any data with data I need.

I have done this, but I cannot delete anything and there is no data in there.  I am confused as to why I have a software that had sample data in it that I do not need.  I want to wipe the whole database and start over.  This is ridiculous.

You should start from invoice, order, quote, opportunity and then delete other records.

    Hi,

Have you associated the sample data record(product) with any data you actually need?

    Hello,

That error means that that product you can't delete is referenced in some data. I would suggest to open 1-N relationships for product entity and find relationship that has "Restrict Delete" value for "Delete Cascading" setting, edit or delete that record that references your product and delete product after.
