When running the stock count schedule after upgrading from GP 10 the Microsoft GP application would hang with not responding, eventually the process would run but very slow

Yes, that's true.. when this option is checked, it takes your whole inventory to add it to the SCS tables ..
That's why I was asking about the total items you have in your inventory.. we do have over 15k, so it's very long.
My suggestion is to go by group of items or classes, and to ask yourself if you really want to include the items with Qty = 0.
I used to work with a large MfG plant where the SCS was created with the basic information (just to start populate the tables) and then would add thru SQL inserts (read MS-Access or other SSIS imports) add the remaining items to the detail table (which is much faster to perform and you select only the items you want to count.
Of course, this implies that you have access to the tools on the back end.
Thanks for information , but I found the cause of the problem but not the solution , when the option to “Include Item/Sites with zero on hand quantity is checked it taking extremely long we never had this problem in GP 10 its only after the upgrade was done.
Have you checked the number of rows in your IV30700 & IV30701 tables ? Check also IV10300 & IV10301... How many items do you track in your inventory ? how do you add the items to the Stock Count Schedule ? by group or items (ranges), by Item Class, or ?
It is not uncommon that the SCS will take a lot of time if you add all your inventory in one shot..
