Hello,
I have a scenario which I need to map in AX. Our client have fixed assets, for example, a generator on their sites. If a generator is not required at a site it is transferred back to a warehouse. Some times when they are constructing a new site they might use this generator.
When the client decides to build a new site they create an investment project in Dynamics AX. They create a work break down structure and in that they want to add this fixed asset generator so that they can run the item requirement later.
Problem:
The fixed asset (Generator) is a fixed asset not an item so we cannot use it to process the item requirement and consume the generator to an investment project.
Is there a work around to this? or can we convert a fixed asset into an item so that it becomes part of the inventory?
Any prompt solution will be highly appreciated.

I have the same question (0)Hi AH86,
There is a fixed asset to inventory journal available that allows taking items from inventory to fixed asset.
The other way around does not work especially if the fixed asset has already depreciated.
What you describe above sounds more like a fixed asset - project - rental integration that is required but that is not fully supported in the standard application.
There are a couple of ISV solutions out there that can handle that. Yet, if you work with standard AX you can only make use of workarounds.
Best regards,
