CRM Portal error "something went wrong"

Posted on by 385

Hi All,

I have a custom html page on crm form and i am mapping the html inputs to the crm fields before submitting from the portal.(HTML page as UI for portal users).

When submitting i am facing below issue either 1 or 2:

1. We're sorry, but something went wrong. Error ID [ some random guid, changes upon refresh]

2. An unknown failure has occured. Error ID [ some random guid, changes upon refresh]

This issue is occurring randomly and mostly if i login for the 1st time to portal and raise a case.

First level of check was code, so raised cases with similar kind of input and the case got created successfully. (thinking code has no issues).

Need your inputs on what can be the issue, as said some times there will not be any kind of issues and some times all getting failed with the above mentioned errors.

My application details:

MSCRM 2016 online

MSCRM Portal 8.2

    Hi Vijender,

"Dynamics 365 Portals" is the new name for "CRM Portals". All Microsoft hosted portals has this limitation.

    Thanks Nithya and Nadeeja.

Yes, MS ticket is the final step it seems.

trace.axd is not enabled for Dynamics 365 - my application is CRM Online not 365 and online also has similar issue with trace.

    Hi,

As suggested by Nadeeja, please raise a support ticket with Microsoft to resolve the issue.

    Hi Vijender,

Best to create a support ticket and get Microsoft support team to look at the error logs to see what the issue is.  Unfortunately, the trace.axd is not enabled for Dynamics 365 Portals to troubleshoot.

    Thanks Nadeeja,

I have done this restarting when ever there is a change in code.

Yes.. also part of troubleshooting i have restarted the portal and the issue is same.

For the first time there will  be an error while submitting and rest of the times behaviour will be intermittent.

Some times case will be creating but the portal still shows error.

Do you face any similar kind of issues?

    Hi Vijender,

Try restarting the portal first. Instructions are below.
