Backup & Restore of Sandbox Online

Hello,

I was wondering what is included in a backup and restore online when using the admin portal?   Is it just data that's being copied over or are entities, forms, views etc. also being copied over?  Based on a previous restore, it seemed like only data had been restored but I've only performed one so was just looking for some info.  Thanks in advance. 

Also, my sandbox is on v9 and production is still on v8.2.  Will this cause an issue if I were to restore now?

    The backup / restore is the whole organisation database, which includes all metadata (i.e. entities, forms, views etc) as well as data

    Each instance is independent, so a difference in versions between sandbox and production won't make a difference

    If anyone has tried it, i am interested to know if an 8.2 backup can be restored to a 9.0 Sandbox? In the background, does it remove the existing 9.0 Sandbox and replace it with the 8.2 version?
