How to auto generate a number for a Parent License plate via the indirect menu item LP Build.?

When you consolidate a license plate, you are keeping one of the license plates and adding items on to it. However in scenarios, where you have to have a new license plate, you can use one of the free one Or create one and use that instead.
I m a beginner,could you please explain the diff between the indirect menu item consolidate LP and LP Build/Break?
Hi Khaireddine,
LP build is used to group license plates but mostly used for moving multiple license plates together. LP Break is actually splitting it back.
Here is the scenario:
1. You have x number of license plates that needs to be moved together from one location to another. you have option to either move them 1 by 1 or build/move/break them.
2. You build them (kind of create parent / child relationship). you can just enter any random LP as parent license (doesn't have to be one that exist in system already), keep adding existing LP to it and click done when you don't have any more LP to add.
2a. you move the parent license plate (In license plate form in D365 parent license plate is populated when you do this.)
2b. break parent license plates into individual LP.

In case of LP build/break - Individual LP's are preserved, products are still on individual LP's but they just are now under a parent. If you look at on-hand at any point, they are still under original license plates.
Consolidate LP is little different and this is to help move products from one license plate to another LP. Refer link below;
