Hello experts,

When running planning, is there a way to tell the system to generate a plan that will result in purchasing a quantity that will result in the lowest total cost for that item. For example, we would by a screw for $.10, but we want to supply demand for 1000 screws as we would get a better price break.

first you need to know what qty will get a better price. This is maintained on item and/or vendor card. BC won't recommend a qty for you to purchase,
the user must balance between the qty and price. For example, if you have a demand of 800 screws, you need to check if a bigger order will get better price. So BC only gives your suggestion if you run item planning or requisition worksheet.

No customization required.  As Valentin mentioned, a Fixed Reorder Quantity of 1000 OR Lot-for-Lot/Max Qty with an Order Multiplier of 1000.  You only need to include a Minimum Order Quantity if it is greater than your Order Multiplier.

As mentioned before, this is not cost based, it is purely a quantity adjustment.

As far as I know, the standard doesn't have this feature.
The easiest way is to customize a page that can prompt you with the most suitable price (or just price list).

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

The planning engine doesn't incorporate item cost/value. It only looks at quantities, so suggesting the lowest total cost is not something it could do.

However, you could easily do this with the correct set up for item quantities. For example, in the Item Card if you set the Reordering Policy to Fixed Reorder Qty., you can then set the Reorder Quantity to 1000. This way the system will suggest purchasing 1000 at a time. You can also incorporate the Order Modifier fields such as Minimum Order Quantity and Order Multiple.
