High CPU on CRM database

(0) ShareShare

When running a query on sys.dm_exec_query_stats my CRM database is showing 92% CPUPercent consistently. I am not seeing any major performance issues per se but what would cause this and how can I stabilize it?

Hi, This isn't normal unless you have a very high number of users connected and your SQL Server is overloaded (Time to scale up!)

You need to find out if it is SQL Server that is consuming the CPU (Use windows task manager) - if it is, you then need to use Activity Monitor to find out what is using the CPU. This could be in the 'Recent Expensive Queries' - look for high CPU time queries.

Hmm, well I ran the query that is suggested in your wiki, and I don't believe I see anything out of the ordinary?

One processor (out of 16) is showing higher usage than the others, which I assume to be the one that SQL is using. Again, I don't know that performance is being affected but this is certainly the first time I am seeing this.

There could be end number of reasons:-

Missing indexes, Query doing large number of reads, Big async operation table and index fragmentation etc.
