Immediate Item Alert

Is there a way to have a message pop up immediatly when I certain item is entered on an invoice for a particular customer?  I know setting up a business alert would work but it would be best if it could be immediatly when the item number is entered.  Is there a performance issue having a business alert run every hour?

You can have a business alert run every minute if you like. I am not sure but Extender might be another option too.

I do have extender.  Explain how that might work for me.

I tested out an Extender dialog box.  It works but it's not customer specific.  Is there a way to tailor a dialog box to a specific customer.

I notice that in the Dialog part of Extender you can set up a a formula using a string. You might create a formula looking for the item number. When it is finds it , it could trigger a dialog box,.This is off the top of my head. I do not work with extender a lot.

I do not know. I would like to know myself. My expereince with it is limited..I bet a VAR out there could tell you quickly.

Business Alerts run as a process on the server and require or use very few system resources.  Unless your server is very taxed already, you should notice no problems.

Business Alerts will allow you to post a notice to you or anyone else on the system.

Extender Dialog boxes allow a window to pop up immediately for the user entering the transaction.  Which to use depends on the reason for the notice.  Is this a "do you want fries with that burger" question or a notice to purchasing to buy the items?

Keep an eye on our web site, we are currently working on books for Extender, SmartList Builder, et cetera.
