placed vs not placed

any problems with not placing orders ? is it just for show or it actually does something different in the system ?

Can I not place orders and still received them alright ? what are consequences ?

Store op does complain that order was not placed, but....

    You can receive the order fine without placing the order.  Placing the order is a logic step within inventory management to know if some order has actually been submitted to the supplier.  If you are receiving the order then it must have already been placed.  

    It does not affect anything that I can see accept it allows you to enter a date so that maybe you know the lead time and it gives you an idea of when you will receive the order.
