Posting a timecard task with zero rate in GL

There is business requirement to record time in the business portal timecard which gets posted in the GL with zero rate. I tried to set it up in the Rate Table by setting a zero rate for one of the tasks. However, this is not working as I expected it to work. The GL Labor posting is usng the employee's salary rate to post to this task even though in the Rate Table I have setup the rate for zero dollars.

Is there a way to accomplish this?
