How to change display colors to immediately identify **Test Company**

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I would like to change the overall display color scheme so that it will be immediately evident that a user has logged into the 'Test Company'.

I have put **Test Company** in the company name so it does show up in the title bar....and I have changed what user preferences are available (i.e. link colors etc).........but I would really like to change the entire color scheme....like the changing the blue title bar to red..and the grey window backgrounds to something else....so that it would be blatantly obvious that they are in the Test Company.

This is mainly because we have had instances of users logging into the Test Company to do testing......then after a few phone calls and/or other distractions, forgetting that they are logged into the test company and continuing to work thinking that they are in the live company.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Wayne

Wayne, you can get GPPT without your partner.  GPPT, developed by David Musgrave of Winthrop Development consultants, is available for purchase & download through the Mekorma site.  I highly recommend getting it!  Here is a link to the Winthrop Development Consultants site with tons of info about GPPT:  http://winthropdc.com/GPPT  And here is a link straight to the product page on Mekorma's site: https://www.winthropdc.com/products_GPPT.htm#Downloads

One of the things I use it for is the exact same thing you're interested in.  In my GP Test company, I changed the colors for all of the input fields, Customer ID, etc.  just for that visual reminder.  There are a TON of other useful features, and David is a really good guy too!

    Wayne,

We are in GP16, where are the preferences to change the colors for the tool?  I keep hunting around and googling and having a challange finding a path to that function.

Here's an article David wrote on how to change the colors:

    Hi Wayne,

This is pretty easily done using the Support Debugging Tool (now GPPT) created by David Musgrave. I believe you should be able to get the SDT for free however you will need to request it from your GP partner.

    Regards,

    Kirk
