Yes, just use a suffix - for example, Laptop 001 or something like that - if you have asset tags, you can use that number too - just some suggestions.

Yes, it looks like the laptop is assigned to MINM8664, So we would have to have 10 laptops?

You can only assign an item to one employee.  If you have 10 laptops, you would need 10 items.  My guess is that the item you are trying to assign is already assigned to an employee.  This should be shown in the Property Setup window.  Maybe post a few screenshots if this didn't help.

I guess i'm confused.  We have have 5 items and i would like to be able to check all the employees that have a laptop for instance.  So when i go to the employee card and i choose the employee that i would like to track having a laptop, the employee is pulled up and there is no item number.  I click the lookup and trying to click the IN on the laptop.  This is where I am getting the error.  Should i be doing this a differnet way?

Click the 'Item Number' link and go to the item that you are trying to assign.  It should show who the employee that currently has it checked out.  You first have to take it off that employee to put it on a new employee.

Does the item show as 'IN' in the Property List lookup?  Or if you look at the property setup, is the 'Available' checkbox checked?  Basically it seems like the item is already assigned to an employee.
