Based on the documentation on KB I understand the I can upgrade from 2015 version 14.00.1079 (R2).

What I am not understanding is the Patch Requirement listed on the KB (see below). Do I need to install any patch prior to upgrading.

I am having hard time understanding what patch the below info from KB is referring to.

Is 18.00.0400 a PATCH if it is where do I get it from?

Upgrading From Patch Requirement for the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 Upgrade Notes
14.00.0898 or later
US Year-End
KB3102158
RTM or later
Version 18.00.0400

Thanks for your assistance.

Right now you are on GP 2018.00.0628. You need to apply the GP 2018 year-end patch first (18.00.0672)

According to Microsoft this should work.

14.00.1159 U.S. Year End KB4468812 U.S. Year End or later  to Version 18.00.0672 or later

RE: Upgrade from GP 2015 14.0.1079 to GP2018R2

    Thank Kerry

I did install the year end update - which updated the version to 14.00.1159.

I installed gp2018r2 - but getting an error when I run utilities --- product 0 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.01159

I looked in the DB_Upgrade and DU00020 tables in dynamics and found

the following 2 products are version 11 -  Product 4612 (Advanced Go To) and Product 3830 (smartlist builder)

This following are 4 records with version as 11 from DBUpgrade Table (there is also the same 4 records with version 14)

    db_name PRODID       db_verMajor db_verMinor db_verBuild db_verOldMajor

    DYNAMICS                       4612 11 0 3 11

    SSR                                 4612        11 0 3 11

    DYNAMICS                       3830 11 0 54 11

    SSR                                  3830 11   0 54 11

the DUInstall.Log has the following error message

Failure encountered ON 1/9/2019 at 10:10:54 PM.  Error:  Product 0 does not support upgrading from version 14.0.1159.

Based on the upgrades, you are on 14.00.1079 - which is above 14.00.0898 and below 14.00.1100 so you only need to install 1800.0400 for the upgrade to work successfully.

These upgrades are based on tax releases so they need to be at the same Patch level.

Hence if you were on 14.00.1100 (Jan 2018 tax fix) you would need to install 18.00.0438 before you do the upgrade.
