is it possible to make an alias as a primary item?  Thank you again for your help.

If you delete the alias item number like: 232323   from HQ and SO then tried to setup as primary-it says item number exist?  is there any way?

I know: There are many reasons that you would not want to delete items. About 99% of the time you should mark items inactive rather then delete. In general, you should only delete an item if you have no history for it. quote from TimB

    Hi DNB,

If i understand you correctly, you removed an alias from item properties.

It should not show you any error as you already deleted it. Perhaps this alias assigned to more than one item? It shouldn't be possible unless it was manually inserted in to database.

Try to run the report Item > Alias List from your store operations manager and see whether that is the case.

Alternatively, you can try to run the following query by connecting to database from store operations administration and see whether there are still items with this alias

    select Itemlookupcode,alias from Alias join Item on item.ID = alias.itemid where alias.Alias=XXX

Replace XXX with your alias code, for example 232323 .

If query results items then remove the alias (after careful consideration) from them before trying to use the code as new item.

    -VKR.
