Mapping Fields from Master Record

Hi,

I have created a new Entity, which has a 1:N relationship with the Contact entity.

When the Contact field on the new entity form is entered I want it to also auto-populate the corresponding account field.

Note: I have thought about just displaying the Account field via a quick view but I need to then show a quick view for the Account.

I have looked into mapping but can't work out how to auto-populate the field, or how to get at the data via a workflow

Any help would be useful.

Thanks,

Richard

You can do this via Real Time Workflow, or using JavaScript code and calling the Web Api.

The Real Time workflow will work if you make changes after you initially saved the record, so you would add a field change trigger and select the contact field.

If you use JavaScript, you can create a JavaScript web resource, and add a contactOnChange function (would need to be added to the form field event). You would need to get the contact id from the attribute, and then call the webapi retrieve action to get the fields that you want from the contact form.

    Hope this helps.

OK just saw how to do this. I selected the Contact field in the workflow and then saw Current Master Account

    Hi,

mapping would only work if you were adding that custom entity record to a subgrid on the contact form. If you are creating a record from some other place, and, then, populating the contact lookup "manually", you would need to use a javascript/worfklow.

There was a somewhat similar javascript discussed here:

With the workflow, it should not be a problem, I think.. Except that you'd have to actually save that new record for the worfklow to kick in.
