We are going to change our mail server from Exchange to Google apps. How will I do the setup in Business Portal 5.1? I changed the smtp to smtp.gmail.com in Business Portal Home >> Site Actions >> Site Settings >> Email and Remote Desktop services but no email notifications were being send.

BP doesn't actually handle any of this process or setup. This is all done within the SMTP settings in SharePoint. I am not sure if you are going to be able to do that but I would recommend posting in a SharePoint forum for that question.
