FST - Translation Definition Issue

Hi,

I've come accross the need to use wild cards in the Translation Definition window. When we create new sub-accounts we have to update a bunch of Translation defintions or else the accounts will be missed every month.

It's becoming very tedious to maintain all the defintions.  There has to be an easier way.  Does anyone know of a way to use wild-cards in the "ending" account and ending Sub-Account fields so that we don't have to be so specific?

Are there any add-ons that I can get to help?

thanks in advance,

Mark

    Hi Mark,

Being able to use wildcards in the Translation Definition screen would be an excellent product suggestion.  You can make the suggestion in the Product Feedback section of CustomerSource located in the Communities link in the left hand column of the page.

One way we thought you might workaround the issue is to create two subaccounts.  One that would always be the first subaccount in the list using perhaps all 9's or all Z's depending on the defnition of the segment.  Also create one that would always be the last subaccount in the list.  Set up your translation deflnitions to make these the beginning subaccount and the ending subaccount.  Then set those subaccounts to inactive so that they couldn't be used in everyday data entry.  I tried this and processed a translation.  I did not get an error that the subaccounts were inactive probably because there was no history in the database that contained those subaccounts.

I know it's not a perfect solution but might work.

    Hi Mark,

Correction - my example would apply to the last subaccount in the list.  The opposite would be true for setting up the first subaccount in the list.
