SQL Timeout on configuration change

Hi

I have just started noticing sql timeouts when trying to make configuration changes to our Contact entity eg adding a new field or adding values to an optionset. This has only started happening since late last week and otherwise CRM appears to be functioning as per usual.

I have tried increasing the sql timeout by adding a registry key - see, for instance, http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2637855 - but this has yet to resolve the issue.

Any one any idea what to do next?

    if none of this works:

    it could be you may need to troubleshoot SQL server (check the indexes, hardware resources)

    check if the crm maintenance is working fine

    blogs.msdn.com/.../crm-2013-maintenance-jobs.aspx

    It could be also a plugin running a expensive query when registered as asynch. there is a setting in the MSCRM Config that will not allow a query to run for too long if inside of a synchronous plugin

    Hi - thanks for suggestions - digging a bit further it seems that there was a lock on a specific table caused by the Scribe software we have installed. Not sure why it was causing the lock though - wasn't even doing any processing.

    Anyway thanks again.
