customer wants to group their investment projects with a main project (ideally project type = investment, and the main project has /INV/ as project group). This main project will gather sub investment projects, which will be created as subprojects with various investment type project groups (INV01, INV02, INV03 ... and so on). These different project groups will have different accounting rules in the ledger posting setup, which is the main reason why different investment project groups are needed.
However, there is a problem when this kind of /investment type project hierarchy/ is created. After main project is created (investment type and project group INV) and user starts to create subprojects (e.g INV01), D365 will give an error /Estimate project must be attached to the same project group as the current project/. Is there any way to go around this problem, because in this case we want to create subprojects with different project groups? We know that we could use e.g. Internal project type for the main project, but it's not logical for the user to use different type on the main project level which is not related to investments. How would you handle this issue?
