Must enter a valid email address pop up when creating new Accounts

When creating/saving new Accounts users are suddenly getting messaging asking them to enter valid email addresses. The email address field is not a required field and it is not on the Account form.

Nothing obvious has changed in the system or on the form. Does anyone know why this is being triggered or how we can turn it off?

    Hi,

Do you have any JavaScript customization . Try to check on save/ onload  event JS function seems  someone incorporate some logic there.

Also check in the form editor , double click on field properties ,under business rules tab , if any BU associated with the fields .

Do you have any javascript/business rule running on the account form?  I would also check if the Email field is on the form but hidden
