NAV Server Certificate

Dear colleagues,

can you please advise me what are the requirements for the certificates that are used with the Dynamics NAV server. So far we've used only self sign certificates and it was working properly.

Now for the production we need a certificate issued by a trested authority and we have problems. Each time we receive an error "The security certificate that has the provided 'ServicesCertificateThumbprint' is not valid."

Can you advise me what might be the issue and what are the requirement to the certificate so that it might be used with the NAV server?

Do you have positive experience with any certificate publisher you can recommend?

    My experience on that is that:

    1) You have to have installed the PFX, not the CER so that you can mark the Certificate as Exportable

    2) Having done #1, you can grant Permissions to the Domain account that the NAV service tier is running under

    3) I install the certificate to both the Personal\Certificates store AND the Trusted People store

    Having done those steps, I rarely have any issues pointing a service tier to an SSL Certificate from a Trusted Authority.

    Thank you very much, Jeremy. The "Trusted people" was what I was missing. It works now!

    Thank you very much... My issue is resolved by importing .pfx file in Trusted People Store
