Garnishments are getting more complicated when it comes to the maximum that can be deducted from an employee's pay check. Child Support can be between 50% and 60% of disposable earnings (depending on whether or not the employee is supporting another spouse or child) and tax levy's are usually 25% of disposable earnings. I'm starting to see some that will include the dependents health coverage as part of the garnishment. For instance, if child support is $500 and the employee is paying health insurance for that same child at $100 then only $400 will be deducted. But the whole $500 needs to be in the calculation for the wage maximum.
Does anyone have any creative ways for accomplishing this?
