Tracking Inventory that has specifications for specific customers

Hello Everyone,

I want to know if this is possible within Dynamics GP 2010 or 2013 (Since we will be moving there soon).

We are a manufacturing facility to makes all of the items stored in inventory in GP. We do not use the manufacturing module to get the inventory entered, we create adjustment transactions to enter this inventory.

Let's say we have product 1001 that is setup to be track by Lot Numbers.

Right now we have 20 sites in GP (logical) that actually represent the one physical site we store inventory.

If product 1001 with Lot Number of 2014-001 has the right specifications we input an adjustment to site 100-ABC and then maybe allocate the remaining of this lot to site 100-GENERAL.

The problem I am running into now is that I have now way to properly pull inventory for the actual warehouse (Or even setup stock counts) because I have 20 different sites for this one physical site.

Is there any way to setup the Lot Numbers into groups or assign specific Lots to Customers or something else that I can do without having to create 20 different sites in GP.

I was thinking about using Bins but in the near future we will be using this to represent the physical location of the product I the Warehouse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to take a look at WilloWare's Service Equipment Series.

    Jonathan,

I'm being a little slow today, but when you say Lot Attributes are you talking about the 6 UD Categories?

    Kind regards,

GP supports a limited number of Lot Attributes, as well as Customer Items.  We have been working with SalesPad to extend the Customer Items functionality in such a way that will enable us to have unlimited user-defined fields (udf) for Customer Items (for specifications and such), plus we are adding a Customer Lookup field as a Lot Number udf, as SalesPad already supports Lot Number UDFs.   This is going to give us ability to have customer-specific Lots & therefore Inventory.  I'm sure we'll find other synergies as we implement it.  Perhaps something like this could help you guys.

    Hey Leslie,

    Thank you for your response.

I do already have 20 logical sites setup that represent one physical site.

    Here is a example:

We have one main warehouse (site) called 100

We also have other warehouses called 100-ANH, 100P, 100-ABC

These sites in GP represent product that is actually in 100 but meets a certain specification for a customer.

With this setup I can not properly setup cycle counts or start using bins to associate items to a physical location in the site.

I am trying to move away from the 100-ANH, 100P, 100-ABC sites but not lose the ability to track inventory that has specifications for a customer.

    I hope this makes sense.

    Regards,

    Adam

I'm having a problem understanding.  I thought I did, but then I re-read the question and got confused again. It starts by saying you have 20 sites set up in GP.

"Right now we have 20 sites in GP (logical) that actually represent the

one physical site we store inventory. "

Then at the end where the question is stated, it seemed like you didn't want to set up 20 sites with this comment:

"Is there any way to setup the Lot Numbers into groups or assign

specific Lots to Customers or something else that I can do without

having to create 20 different sites in GP. "

What's confusing me is that I thought you already had the 20 sites set up in GP.  Obviously I'm not understanding this right, can you lead me down the right track?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
