Long story short - I'm a web developer who has just been thrust into the position of fixing these RMS/POS problems. I have no previous experience with these programs and have no idea how they were set up. But...
Basically my company has a headquarters store and then five remote stores in other states. I'm told that a few years back (I've only been here 4 months) all these programs were working properly and communicating with each other perfectly. Somehow over the years that stopped and they are trying to get that working again.
When someone at our headquarters location disperses say 500 polo shirts, 100 to each store, the inventory does not show up at the remote stores. A month ago, the inventory entered in Headquarters Manager would update the Store Operations database in the same building, but now it has stopped doing that as well.
Since I have almost no knowledge of how this works, I'm asking if anyone could tell me at least where to start diagnosing. What would you look for/check first?
One thing I noticed was that in our Headquarters Client configuration, the database is set up for our local store database, not the headquarters database, is this correct?
