Hi experts,
In Business Central cloud, our customer has a Word layout in report 1306.
Is it possible to copy this layout into a new Word file that can be used for report 1303?
Hope you can help.

You can copy the structure (the whole WORD file), but all the XML mapping fields have to be re-entered, otherwise it will give an error, because it contains reference to other report.

    Hello,

It can be a yes or no answer.

You can't add directly to 'Custom Report Layouts' and assign it immediately.

You need to ensure all the report field name matches.

KasparsSemjonovs is correct,  you can't use it directly, but you can copy certain elements.

As mentioned by several other experts, the answer is no.
Because the Report Objects are different, it is not recommended to reuse layout files, which may cause runtime errors.
You should modify the layout of 1303 according to the report of 1306

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I have found a 'hackaround' in order to change the dataset of an existing word layout.

Step 1: Make sure file extensions are not hidden in Windows Explorer. Go to your word layout document and rename the document.docx file to document.zip. Extract the .zip file. This will allow you to get inside the actual word file.

Step 2: Open the folder called 'customXml'. Open the item1.xml file in a text editor and make sure the content is matching your new dataset. Update the report name and id in the first row. Open itemProps1.xml and update the reference as well (both name and id).

Step 3: Open the 'word' folder and open the document.xml file in a text editor. Search for the 'old' report name and id. Find and replace all databindings from the old report name and id to the new ones.

Step 4: Go back to the root level of the folder and select the folders and file. Send the selection to a zipped folder again.

Step 5: Rename the new .zip folder to .docx again. Now you can edit your word layout again, or import directly into Business Central!
