modifying a reference after a journal entry was posted...

guys, i have some query here.. i have wrongfully described a journal entry thru the REFERENCE field. unluckily, i have posted the journal entry to the GL.. when i started printing the details of each account, i found out that it was wrong, based on the description of the transaction under the REFERENCE column. how can possibly change the reference without backing out a posted entry? i could use some help here.. thanks!!

There is no GP transaction or edit that will allow the editing of a posted transaction. Technically, it is a violation of GAAP. Changes like these would need to be made by directly editing the transaction in the GP20000 table using SQL Management Studio and should be performed by a technical person.
