Language pack error while installing UR1 on CRM 2013

My CRM version is 6.0.0000.0809. All roles are loaded on the same server.

Error says "Microsoft Dynamics CRM English (United States) Language Pack is not installed on this computer"

I download and attempted to install the language pack, only to get this:

"You cannot proceed with the installation because the language of the Language Pack, English (United States), you are trying to install is the same language as the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server."

I ensured that the server was updated with all other service packs/updates and rebooted but got the same error. What do I need to do to fix this?

    Hi Scott,

First of all can you please tell me what is the Base language of your CRM 2013 instance?

Secondly can you please paste me the link from where you have downloaded the Language Pack in order bypass your first error?

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Communities

Thank you Lozici for assisting. Firstly, I was never able to bypass the error when installing UR1. I just cancelled the install of UR1.

According to the Region and Language in the Control Panel, the format is “English (United States)” with the location being United States. The language for non-Unicode programs listed on the Administrative tab shows “English (United States)”.

The URL for the UR1 I downloaded is:

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

The URL to the language pack I downloaded is:

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    Hi Scott,

The error you first posted would be normal when you have the following scenario: You have installed CRM 2011 in another language then English(example: French, this means that when you provision(create) a new organization you will have a French Base Language organization ( the organization will be in French) and you also installed the English language pack (to be able to create English organizations as well) and then you would try to upgrade to UR1.

An easy way to check if you have enabled multiple languages on your CRM instance is to go to Add-Remove programs/Uninstall a program (in control panel) and check for any entries like "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 XYXX Language Pack").

However the 1st and 2nd errors you pasted normally should not appear on the same CRM installation as they contradict each other.

I would suggest you contact our Technical Support team to have someone take a closer look at your installation and the reason of the upgrade failure.

This is awful support from Microsoft "I would suggest you contact our Technical Support team".  I am having the same issue in two different environments and I AM THE SUPPORT TEAM.

Hi Scott - did you get a remedy for this. I've just run into the exact same problem.

I can't move on to UR1 on my CRM 2013 onpremise server. The errors says the language pack is not installed, but if I try to install the language pack it tells me the language pack is the same as the server.

    What was the solution?

I'm not sure if this works for anyone else - but it has worked for me in 2 different environments:

If I download the UR1 (or SP1 for that matter) from MSDN and run the exe, I get the error as detailed by Scott. If I use windows update to install SP1, it works fine. There is a big difference in Mb size between the two, so my best guess is that the way the updare is packaged up in Windows Update is different from a direct download. I'd also guess that there is a bug in the direct download version on MSDN.

FYI Microsoft Support if you do look into this - the two environments that I had problems were both using CRM 2013 Workgroup Server edition.

    Regards,

    Paul

CRM 2013 - You will notice that after installing SP1 and UR1 for SP1 that the Language pack gets updated as part of the CRM install.  Trying to install the language pack specific SP1 and Rollup1 gives the error specified in the first post.  The version of the 1033 language pack (English US) can be found in the registry or under Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\LangPacks\1033 by looking at properties details of CrmVerMui.dll.  It will show 6.1.1.132 as it should.  Not sure why they have a separate Mui executable as part as part of SP1 download package.

I have just come across the same issue. CRM 2015 UR1 on premise. Tried to download and install the language packs and get an error:

You cannot proceed with the installation because the language of the language pack, English (United States), you are trying to install is the same language as the Microsoft Dynamics Server. Any ideas?

Also, as stated by Roger a few posts up I am finding the same thing in the registry:

CRM 2013 - You will notice that after installing SP1 and UR1 for SP1 that the Language pack gets updated as part of the CRM install.  Trying to install the language pack specific SP1 and Rollup1 gives the error specified in the first post.  The version of the 1033 language pack (English US) can be found in the registry or under Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\LangPacks\1033
